Make it Happen

Once again I had one of those days where I wanted to do nothing but watch bad TV and drink coffee. Sigh. But I dug deep and pulled my butt away from temptation. I punished myself at the gym. Following the weights and the bike, I ran a nice 8km outside.

I don’t know why I continue to have these little arguments with myself. As I said yesterday, I always feel amazing after I run or lift weights. (Most likely it’s the hum drum of winter or SAD having its way with me.)

Buck up needs to be my motto. Buck up. And Get It Over with.

I’m really having fun with my LTR group. I need to bottle some of their enthusiasm on my unmotivated days. Isn’t it fun when you set a new goal for yourself?

When I was at the gym today, a lady asked me if I was working out because it was January. Taken back a little, I said… ah.. no. I am here to work on my strength because it is a lifestyle thing. Last night a woman asked me if I was just learning to run. Just when I am starting to get into the rhythm of being a runner… I know she didn’t mean anything by it but that stung a little.

But I am over it. I made the best post-run smoothie EVER tonight. You know I am still going strong with my no bread, no toast rule.

I am more addicted to smoothies than I think I have ever been in my life. I bought this $15 single smoothie maker from Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. I love it. It’s easier to clean than a blender. And I can unscrew it from the body and flip a lid on it and take it to work. Awesome.

But I digress….

Tonight’s smoothie:

  • Half a glass of cranberry juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 avocado
  • Handful of frozen mango
  • Handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 spoonful of flax seed
  • 1/3 cup of Almond milk
