Box jumps gone wrong

I knew when I burned my right thumb on Saturday night that the worst was yet come. I have a habit of hurting myself in threes. Maybe it’s a Sagittarius thing?

During Monday’s WOD (wallballs, rowing and box jumps), I lost my focus during a jump and my shin caught the box straight on. See that’s what happens when I try to do too many things at once. I was listening to Coach Christina correct my form while trying to jump as fast as I could. I won’t make that mistake again.

After Coach Christina stopped laughing (just kidding), she said “Now you’re a real crossfitter.” I wouldn’t go that far but it was cool to see all that blood. It reminded me of Catherine’s ripped hands after one too many pull ups. Anyway after I composed myself I continued with the WOD. The pain really started when I was finished. Ouchy!

I didn’t let it or the blood stop me from running 12K after work. It was so nice out that I just had to take in the evening air. This picture is from the weekend. I thought I would post a pic of me smiling because my coworker mentioned that I seemed very down lately on the blog. I’m not. (Well last week when I was rushed to the ER was not one of my finest moments. Ha!)
Last week I was down a bit in mileage because of some social engagements. (I know it’s a bad excuse). I plan to make up for it this week with some serious quality runs. I am still waiting for that third injury/mishap. Yikes! Cross your fingers it won’t be anything too serious.

  1. I don't think its a bad excuse to be down on mileage due to social engagements. Sometimes life really gets in the way. I would choose seeing friends & family over a run.

  2. Not a bad excuse at all! I think you have to find time for friends and social engagements to keep balance. That cut is ridiculous – ouch!

  3. Ugh. Box jumps scare me for that reason. Looks painful.

Hope you're ok re: hospital trip! Be careful out there!
