Your must-listen podcast list

I love listening to podcasts.

I developed the habit when I lived in Korea to get caught up on Canadian news. Now I listen to my favourite podcasts on my long runs. It’s one of the reasons I run alone. Time sure flies when you are on a three-hour run and listening to a podcast.

After I listen to the latest on CBC (The Current, Power & Politics, Under The Influence and As It Happens), I delve into the good stuff. (Don’t get me wrong I love CBC but sometimes I like to forget about the news.)

PODCASTS TO GET YOU MOVING

This American Life – Each themed episode offers a variety of stories on that theme. “Most of the stories are journalism, with an occasional comedy routine or essay. There are lots more to the show, but it’s sort of hard to describe.”

The Moth – I love, love The Moth. It’s storytelling at its best with professional and regular folks. The stores can be funny, random, inspirational etc. They can make you chuckle or cry.

Trail Runner Nation – All I learned about trail running was from this podcast. Love this team of runners!

Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! – Need a good laugh? NPR always has some good stuff and this American news quiz is no different.

Serial – Gosh Season 1 of this show was SO GOOD. I wasn’t completely sold on the second season.

Do you listen to podcasts? What do you listen to on the run?

  1. I love podcasts! I need to branch out more though, all of mine are running related 🙂 TRN of course, Endurance Planet (though I do skip some of the more out there ones), Ginger Runner, RunnersConnect, and Ultramarathon News. I used to listen to Vinyl Cafe a lot, but then it started to repeat, so I haven’t in a while, I should again as there are probably lots of new content now. Serial Season 1 was great, but I haven’t tried the second season. I also listen to audiobooks… running is basically my only time to ‘read’.

Yeah I can’t get into books but I like the long podcasts. The second season of Serial is okay but the first was way better. I used to listen to Vinyl Cafe too. I’d like to listen to another running podcast. I just love TRN.
