Week #3 Iron Legs/Lost Soul training

Update. Update time.

I am heading into week three of my 50K training plan. Once again I am following a plan from Relentless Forward Progress by Byron Powell. My plan calls for running 50 miles (80K) per week for a 50K race. It’s on the low scale of mileage but it works for my lifestyle. It’s a great book with valuable training advice and plans. I think it may have been the first ultra training book that I bought when I decided I wanted to run ultras and trails. Good investment.

Right now I feel like I am behind in my training compared to last year. Rachel and I were in Bragg Creek just about every weekend. Does anyone remember Shirtless February? Winter 2016 was so mild. This winter has been the total opposite. I am not a fan.

update

No mountain views in this post. In fact, I don’t have a single training photo to share with you. My iPhone may come along for my city runs but it doesn’t leave my pocket. It’s too bloody cold to remove my gloves. My Garmin holds all my training successes and failures. No photo required. I am hitting my distances during the week so I am overjoyed. It’s easy to get into the habit of running directly after work. I like to run before I go home because it can be challenging to go out again after you’re in the comfort and warmth of your own home.

Good food

update

I’ve been eating well, in case you were wondering. Lately I am just throwing together whatever I find in my pantry and refrigerator. I don’t have time to follow recipes but I do like to look at the pictures. I’ve been going to potlucks lately, which is an opportunity for me to try new dishes. Vegan sushi is my new go-to dish.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you are having a fabulous week.
