Where have I been? I’m not missing

Right I know what you’re thinking.

Stop blogging and eating. Just get the hell out there and run. Yes if you have been trolling my social feeds, you will see that I have been eating well and taking pictures of my vegan gluttony. But I assure you I have been running. I am still working on that time-management thing in order to have time to blog. I’ve got so many things on the go that I am feeling extremely scattered.

I read this article Possible Signs of Depression and I immediately went to the bathroom and shaved my legs. The link won’t take you to the article because I can’t find it now. Anyway there were 10 things on the list that may be signs of depression including not caring about your appearance (thus shaving the legs), sleeping a lot, avoiding people, feeling listless and lack of motivation. I may have

I’m getting better though. I am focusing on the positive and moving forward. I have resurrected my motivation board, which I put in clear view of my every day. So enough of this depressive stuff. Let me tell you what I have been up to over the last few weeks.

Twice over the last few weeks Rachel and I trained in Kananaskis Country. I realized on our 20K run that I am in terrible shape. I made the mistake of looking at last year’s mileage, which confirmed I am behind on my training for Iron Legs. My quads were screaming bloody murder on those hills. It was a great kick in the butt. I need to step up my running game if I want to finish Iron Legs in four months. Now Mother Nature needs to stop this snow business.

missingI know my body is forgiving and has a good memory. In time I will be back in running shape. Yes it takes time, and I am impatient. So please be mindful of this when I am whining about this slow process.

missingAmanda and I have been running together a lot lately. Thankfully she doesn’t mind my slow pace or my huffing and puffing on those Spruce Drive hills. Isn’t this a sad photo? The River Bend trails are my favourite place to run in Red Deer.

missingThis is what happens when you cut down trees. Don’t worry Amanda wasn’t injured. The hole was already in the sneaker. Makes for a great conversation starter, doesn’t it? We have been hitting the Spruce Drive hill for the last few weeks for a 10×4 hill challenge (10 hills for four weeks). Although it is gruelling, we may keep it up longer.

missingI finished and enjoyed my Mountains 101 course through the University of Alberta. Take this online course if you are interested in a broad view of mountains in this world. Next month I will sign up for another online course. I haven’t decided which field yet.

missingSo here I am – not missing (Just like Richard Simmons).  I am crawling out of my self-imposed hole and taking it day by day. I am surrounding myself with positive people and avoiding the shallow and negative.
