In My Veg Kitchen: Mi Aroma Rice Cooker

They say three times is the charm and it definitely took me three times to figure out how to use the new addition to my kitchen.

I’ve taken my sushi obsession to a whole new level. I bought a “mi aroma personal rice cooker” after watching a YouTube video about its magic powers. My plan is to take it to work for easy lunches (and when I go on road trips). So far it hasn’t left my countertop.

rice cooker After I figured out how to use it, I love it. You see, one should always read at least some of the instructions before plugging in a new appliance and pressing start. The cup that came with the cooker is less than an actual “250 ml” cup. No wonder my first two attempts were a disaster.  In my excitement, I didn’t rinse the rice either. (Rice is dirty, dirty so always rinse before cooking!) It cooks between two and three cups, which is perfect for a couple of sushi rolls. Lesson: Always read the instructions.

This mini cooker is more than a rice cooker. I can make pasta, veggies, desserts, quinoa etc. It’s small, compact and portable. I plan to take my mi aroma with me when I travel for races this season. Eating out definitely adds to the racing bill and if I can save some $$, why not? It’s also great for those days when I am too busy to make lunch. I can just grab a bunch of stuff from my fridge and go.

Who doesn’t need a little simplicity in their life?

Next week I will attempt to make something other than rice. My diet has been pretty boring lately so this may help spark some inspiration. Do you have a rice cooker? Do you eat a lot of rice?

In case you missed it
