Tapering before my race

Next weekend I will be in Lethbridge for Lost Souls. I’m equally scared and excited. Because I am resting my legs, I am staying close to home this long weekend. I’m avoiding the highways and all the people. I love this week before the race because I can get caught up on everything I have ignored over the last few months.

Laura, Ghost and I ran an easy 8K at River Bend this morning. It was nice and chill. My legs really needed the low impact. My usual aches and pains are starting to show up (just in time for race day). I’m staying off my feet as much as I can and I am rolling, rolling and rolling.

No longer MIA. Laura and Ghost pose for the camera.

Meanwhile … Greg from Lethbridge fired off a text earlier today – Hi Crystal! Be ready for some hot hot heat next weekend. +33C Friday & +30C Saturday. That’s right, I am drinking, drinking and drinking water so I am nice and hydrated for those coulees. Gosh I am so glad I bought my new hydration pack. It’s so easy to remove and refill the bladder. It’s so light that I don’t even feel it when it’s on my back. My only complaint is the hose – it’s too long. I’ve had to stop mid-run to readjust it so it’s not whacking me in the face.

In other news, I decided to start uploading my videos to my new Running with Rhyno YouTube channel. I am going to add a mix of running and vegan recipe videos to the site. Right now I am still navigating my new channel. I love watching YouTube videos so I thought why not create my own channel? Please head over and subscribe. In a future post I will roll out more details about my new channel.

Stay tuned.

  1. Tons of good luck next weekend! I’ll be in London taking on a different 100k. I’m worrying about rain and wind while you’re worrying about heat 🙂 You got this lady!
