Hiking in Phoenix

I’ve been looking forward to trail running/hiking since I landed in Arizona on Friday. Truth be told I was more excited to be out on the trail than running the Tucson Marathon.

Praise Buddha the sun was out and my legs were ready to rock this mountain today.

Audrey & Doug have a house in this country club where there’s Daisy Mountain. The only access is through the club. Doug hikes for about half an hour a day. I asked him to show us a longer route. I wanted to spend at least a couple of hours on the mountain.

We set out late around 11 a.m. By now the sun was starting to emerge. I was so excited! My legs were finally recovered from my 26 miles on Sunday. I was also pumped to try out my Nathan Vapor Wrap racing vest. I managed to find it after visiting two stores in Phoenix! I’ll write a proper review of the vest after a few long runs. (Loved it!)

The hike was easy and beautiful. We took our time taking pictures and marvelling at the scenery. I am so jealous. I wish I had a mountain in my backyard.

When we got home I jumped into the pool. Wow was it ever cold! I’m sure my body will thank me for the dip tomorrow. (I hope!). Tomorrow we’re finding another mountain.

Happy Wednesday!
